Can I use an icon asset as a logo?

What is a logo?

A logo is a visual symbol or design that represents your business or brand. It can include text, icons, or images, and is often used to show what your company does and what it stands for.

Can I use an icon from IconScout as a logo?

No, you cannot use an unmodified icon from IconScout as your business logo. All icons and assets on IconScout are provided with non-exclusive rights, which means:

• The original designer retains full ownership of the icon.

• Other users may also use the same icon.

• Logos are often trademarked, so using a shared design may result in legal issues.

What if I modify the icon?

If you plan to significantly modify an icon and use it as part of a logo, we recommend:

• Consulting with a legal advisor or trademark attorney to understand your rights.

• Keep in mind: Even with modifications, the original design cannot be trademarked as-is.

What do we recommend?

If you need a unique logo for your business, we suggest using the IconScout Custom Design service. Based on your needs and budget, we can connect you with a professional designer to create a logo you can legally use and trademark.
